“Daddy, what’s the Constitution?”
In preparation for an upcoming trip to D.C., Daddy has been giving some before-bed history lessons. As we entered the “Birth of America” period, the brain wheels were cranking for AbiNoelle. It was during this lesson, that AbiNoelle decided how she would vote and gave her opinion about the Constitution. Wait until you hear the answer. Look out Washington D.C. – here comes AbiNoelle!
In answer to her question, Daddy explained that the leaders of America decided the country’s laws and wrote those laws in the Constitution. The lesson continued with more about George Washington, whom she has already learned much. With our lesson concluded and bed-time calling, she quickly asserted: “If I lived during the time of George Washington, I would vote for George Washington and God for President!” We chuckled a little at her dramatic declaration, but were quickly brought to a serious note at her next question.
“Daddy, the Bible has all the laws in it, so why did they need to write the Constitution when they could just read the Bible and follow God’s laws?”
Well, now, look out D.C.! Perhaps all those candidates need to be replaced by someone who understands the true faith of a child – one whose comfort rests in not only believing in our Sovereign Authority but acting out and living by His precepts!
She’s a thinker. She’s inquisitive. She’s a talker. She has less than 30 days of K4 to go! She’s so excited about K5! She already got a sneak peak of her K5 A Beka DVD teacher, Mrs. Reese. Look at how far she has come this year – from “a…apple”: to a board full of words that she can read!
